About the Data

We have collected data on bills sponsored and cosponsored by legislators in state legislatures across the country. Our dataset includes 72,642 bills from 3363 legislators in 23 states, covering both upper and lower chambers.

For each legislator, we gathered every bill they sponsored or cosponsored and calculated the partisan balance of their fellow sponsors and cosponsors.
